Douglas's Spirea - Spiraea douglasii var. douglasii
Also called "Hardhack" for its habit of forming impenetrable thickets, this variety is common on swampy ground and at the edges of ponds and lakes, reaching about 2500 feet. Photographed on on the Eastside Trail on August 1, 2013.
