American Sawwort - Saussurea americana

This uncommon, tall  perennial is found on dry subalpine slopes above 5000 feet, reaching nearly 7000 feet on Crystal Mountain. Found throughout the Park but rarely on Mount Rainier itself. Photographed on Crystal Mountain on August 8, 2014.
