A rare shrub at Mount Rainier and known from just one herbarium collection; elsewhere in the mountains of Washington, this is a shrub of marshy places and lakeshores. Seed-bearing catkins are shown at center and a single, tiny pollen flower is shown below. Photographed at Tipsoo Lake on July 25, 2016.
