One of the more common (and the most conspicuous) leafless plants in the Park, this species can exceed four feet in height. It survives through a complex interchange of water and nutrients with conifers and soil fungi, and favors open, dryish forests below 3500 feet. Photographed on the Eastside Trail, August 1, 2013.
