Large Knotweed - Polygonum majus

 Uncommon and inconspicuous before late summer when strong red colors develop in the plants, this annual species grows on poor and thin soils at low elevations, such Box Canyon and Sunshine Point, where these photographs were taken on August 25, 2014.
