Common Butterwort - Pinguicula vulgaris
An insectivorous plant, taking its common name from the pale, yellow-green leaves that have a sticky/slimy surface (the "butter" in Butterwort) which traps small insects for digestion by the plant. Found in a few places, often in crevices on wet cliffs, as in Stevens Canyon and near Comet Falls, as well as on peat soils in wet meadows such as Mountain Meadows, where it is fairly abundant. Photographed at Mountain Meadows on July 14, 2014.
