A low shrub, abundant in subalpine meadows and on moist slopes, growing between 5000 and 8000 feet, throughout the Park. Unusual color forms are sometimes seen, as photographed (right) on the Paradise Glacier trail, August 29, 2014, and (left and center, in the typical pink color) on the Skyline Trail, August 2, 2013.
