Skunk-cabbage - Lysichiton americanus

The signature plant of wet ground in early spring, often growing under alder, below 3500 feet. Late-season leaves can be three feet long. Photographed (left) at Longmire on May 8, 2017, and on April 29, 2014, along the road above Sunshine Point.
